Description
Nederlands: Ingekleurde tekening door Jules Lefebvre - niet te verwarren met de veel bekendere Franse portretschilder Jules Joseph Lefebvre (1836-1911) - van het latere Momus' Oudemannenhuis, Herbenusstraat 87, in Maastricht. De tekening dateert zeker van vóór 1887, toen de barokke westwerktorens van de Sint-Servaaskerk werden afgebroken, en waarschijnlijk ook van vóór 1877, toen de Herbenusstraat als hoofdweg werd aangelegd. Het gebouw op de voorgrond is de uitspanning "Le Téméraire", ofwel "Casino du Téméraire", dat in de jaren 1870 werd uitgebaat door ene Janssen. Het complex werd in 1888 door de Sociëteit Momus aangekocht om er in 1890, na een verbouwing en uitbreiding, Momus' Oudemannenhuis in te vestigen. Achter het hoofdgebouw de zgn. 'paardenstallen', zo genoemd naar de paardenhoofden aan de gevel. Dit was het woonhuis van Janssen. Collectie HCL Maastricht, RHCL 2008 001.
