| Description | Malvern Priory (St. Mary & St. Michael), 22 June 2015. Originally built as a Benedictine Monastery in 1085 in Norman style, rebuilt in Perpendicular style in 1440-1502 and restored by Sir George Gilbert Scott in 1860 The Priory itself was dissolved in 1539 but the people of Malvern bought the church to act as their parish church to replace their old one which had fallen into disrepair. Pictured is the north elevation - the clerestory windows of the choir are of a slightly later Perpendicular style to that of the nave. The tower is similar in style to that of Gloucester Cathedral. |
