Summary[edit]
DescriptionMansard Roof? (15764752233).jpg |
A snowy morning in southern Ontario. According to some, this building has a "mansard" roof (popularized by 17th century french architect François Mansart). Other state that a mansard roof must have two distinct slopes, the top one more steep than the bottom. I stay out of the argument (I am only an architect in my dreams). Although currently is a state of disrepair, with birds living in several parts of the framing, this roof is one of the more notable in downtown St. Catharines. It is buildings like this one (or at least this one's roof) that give a Charles Dickens-ish feel to snowy winter days. |
