Como mapa conceptual es solo una herramienta visual que permite de un vistazo entender el software libre en base a los términos del mundillo, sus relaciones y ejemplos. Como profesor lo diseñé como ejercicio mientras aprendía a desarrollar unidades didácticas. Es cómun a la hora de desarrollarlas empezar relacionando terminos o ideas que se quieren explicar en un mapa conceptual para luego ir preparando ejercicios, métodos de evaluación...
A partir de ahí fue mejorando con el tiempo y ha sido publicado en diferentes revistas. Includio un documento de la UNESCO donde era contraportada (del que deriva la Versión juvenil). Están disponibles un glosario de los términos y sus ejemplos así como explicaciones en los artículos nombrados de Bulma.
Actualmente se mantiene en es.gnu.org pero está en proyecto ponerlo en gnu.org/fmap así como tener ejercicios y exámenes. Esto último en menos de un més. Y más adelante generar más contenidos hasta terminar una unidad didáctica completa con suficiente flexibilidad de contenidos para aplicarse a diferentes niveles educativos.
