Description
Deutsch: Dem Gemäldepaar liegen die beiden Portraits von Georges Desmarées (1697-1776) zugrunde. Das vorliegende Gemäldepaar gibt in verkleinertem Maßstab die höchst repräsentativen Portraits von Maximilian III von Bayern (1727-1777) wieder, sowie von dessen Gemahlin Maria Anna Sophia Prinzessin von Polen und Sachsen, die 1747 den bayerischen Kurfürsten ehelichte. Da die Ehe kinderlos blieb, starb die Altbayerische Linie der Wittelsbacher mit Maximilian III Joseph aus. Zu sehen ist das Paar in repräsentativem Staatsornat mit Hermelinmantel, Orden und Maximilian in Rüstung. Auf den Kissen neben sich jeweils der Fürstenhut, bei Maximilian mit Reichsapfel und einem Helm mit aufgeklapptem Scharnier. Der Künstler hat bei der Wiedergabe der Portraits sorgfältig auf die unterschiedlichen Texturen, Reflexe und Spiegelungen der einzelnen Elemente Wert gelegt, sodass sie auch in diesem etwas kleineren Format ihre volle Pracht entfalten.
