Summary[edit]

Description
English: The Sarcophagus of Marcus Claudianus (ca. 330-335, Palazzo Massimo, Rome): Detail, The Cure of the blind man (Mark 8:22-26) and the prediction of Peter's betrayal (Matthew 26:31-35, Mark 14:27-31, Luke 22:31-34, John 13:36-38). The figure on the left is Christ, rubbing the blind man's eyes. The figure on the right is also Christ, with Peter behind him, predicting on the night of his arrest that Peter will betray him before the cock crows three times. The cock itself is shown at Christ's left foot.
