| Description |
English: As seen from the Amtrak train northbound near Fredricksburg. It is in the Fredricksburg national Military Park, NRHP ref #66000046. The pyramid is best seen from the train as it is too dangerous to cross the tracks to walk to it. It is a Confederate pyramid 23' tall and made of 17 tons of granite. In 1898 it was commissioned by the Confederate Memorial Literary Society as an historically significant site along the railroadlines to honor the unknown Confederate dead. |

Things you would never see from your plane window. I love the train and always take it from Newport News to Baltimore when visiting family. I then fly from Baltimore to Fairbanks. I love "discovering" these mysterious sites and then researching their history.
