Summary[edit]
| Description |
English: Meander, Cuckmere River This is on the old course of the river on the eastern side of the valley. The sharp hairpin bend comes courtesy of a medieval sea defence to the right which was constructed to improve drainage and agriculture in the upper part of the river valley. The embankment would also carry a causeway across the valley for towards a former ferry on the western side. Today that defence still carries the main A259. |
