Description
English: A photograph of members of the Women’s Forage Corps posed in front of laden General Service Wagons.

The Women’s Forage Corps came under the direction of the Army Service Corps that was responsible for troop transport and the supply of food, water, fuel and other stores.

It is perhaps owing to the success of these early auxiliary services that the Women’s Land Army was founded by the Board of Agriculture and Fisheries in February 1917 to provide a reliable workforce for agricultural industries.
