English: Plaque at the Chapelle de l'Oratoire in the Old Town of Geneva commemorating 29 June 1859 when the evangelical society of the city decided to send an international mission to Lombardy to rescue the war wounded from the Battle of Solferino upon the appeal of medical doctor Louis Appia, who subsequently became one of the founding fathers of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). Photo uploaded for "Wiki Loves Switzerland 2020" as it highlights the Swiss tradition of humanitarian assistance.
