Summary[edit]
DescriptionMemorial to the Scots who fought at the Battle of Worcester - geograph.org.uk - 1279874.jpg |
English: Memorial to the Scots who fought at the Battle of Worcester This two tonne slab of Scottish granite was unveiled by the MP, Tam Dalyell, on the 350th anniversary of the Battle of Worcester. An ancestor of Tam Dalyell fought in the battle. The battle was the last act of the English Civil and took place on 3 September 1651, when the Royalist army made up of a majority of Scots was defeated by the Parliamentarian army under Cromwell. It's thought some 3,000 Scots were killed in the battle, with approxiamtely another 2,000 being captured and sent to the 'New World' colonies of North America. |
