| Description |
English: Mercury, fountain in Tom Quad, Christ Church, Oxford. The statue of Mercury is a copy of one by Giovanni da Bologna, and was given in 1928. Its plinth was designed by Edwin Lutyens. The section of Tom Quad in the photo is part of Cardinal Wolsey's college built in 1525 and intended to have a cloister. The battlements were added later. View from the entrance to the cathedral. |
