עברית: רעיית נשיא המדינה מיכל הרצוג, מארחת בבית הנשיא את טקס הענקת פרס רעיית הנשיא לשירה עברית על שם גרדנר סימון לזכרה של נחמה ריבלין.יום חמישי, כ"ט בשבט, 8 בפברואר 2023.קרדיט צילום: מעיין טואף/ לע"מ.
השנה (2024), הוענק הפרס בבית הנשיא בפעם החמישית בשיתוף האפוטרופוס הכללי והממונה על ענייני ירושה עו״ד בן ציון פיגלסון, במטרה לעודד משוררות ומשוררים להעשיר את עולם השירה הישראלי, לטפח שירה עברית איכותית ולתרום לקידום התרבות בישראל.
הזמרת מאיה בליזמן ביצעה את השירים 'שיר ערש' ואת השיר 'שמרי נפשך'. במהלך האירוע המרגש, הוקראו קטעי שירה מיצירותיהם של הזוכים, בנאומם, ייחלו כולם להשבת החטופים במהרה.
הפרס הראשי הוענק לנועה לארה מאיר על ידי רעיית הנשיא על ספרה "את כנראה נמצאת כאן". זהו ספר ביכוריה של לארה מאיר והוא משתייך למסורת עתיקת-יומין של הקינה בשירה העברית.
בנוסף, הוענקו שלושה ציונים לשבח, למשוררת שי שניידר אילת על ספרה "כל מה שהיא שרה מעלה עשן", למשורר יחזקאל רחמים על ספרו "שמיים שלמים" וליורם ורטה על ספרו "אוי מאמא".
הפרס גובש כיוזמה משותפת של רעיית נשיא המדינה לשעבר נחמה ריבלין ז״ל, והאפוטרופוסה הכללית לשעבר הגברת סיגל יעקובי, במטרה לממש את עזבונו של ד"ר גרדנר סימון ולמען קידום השפה העברית.
בראש הועדה עמד פרופ׳ מירון איזקסון. עימו התכנס חבר השופטים שכלל את פרופ' רפי וייכרט, הגב' שירי לב ארי, הגב' בלהה בן אליהו והגב' ענת ריבלין. חברי הועדה נבחרו על ידי בית הנשיא והאפוטרופוס הכללי וביצעו את עבודתם בהתנדבות ובאופן עצמאי.
