Description

Milanković theorie beschrijft de effecten van de beweging van de planeet aarde op het wereldklimaat. Milutin Milankovićbeschrijft in een publicatie in 1941 dat de variaties in de baan van de aarde rond de zon (excentriciteit), de variaties in de aardashoek (obliquiteit) en de tolbeweging van de aardas (precessie) van invloed zijn op de temperatuur op aarde. Als gevolg van deze variaties varieert de temperatuur op aarde en zijn de ijstijden gedurende het Kwartair (2,5 miljoen jaar – heden) te verklaren.

De curve Solar Forcing toont het berekende effect van de excentriciteit, precessie en obliquiteit op de hoeveelheid ontvangen zonne-energie die op een zomerse dag aan de buitenkant van de dampkring op een vierkante meter wordt ontvangen op 65 graden NB. Omdat de periodiciteit van de 3 factoren bekend is kan ook berekend worden wat het effect in de toekomst zal zijn. De grafieken lopen dan ook van -800.000 jaar A.D. tot +800.000 jaar A.D.
