Esboço para se entender como os militares utilizam o pt:milésimo

O ângulo é lido, em milésimos, por meio de algum instrumento ótico, como um binóculo, fazendo-se a visada sobre um objeto do qual se saiba a altura ou esta possa ser estimada (p. ex.: uma torre, um poste, um veículo, uma pessoa). Dividindo-se a altura em metros pelo ângulo em milésimos se obtem a distância aproximada em quilômetros. Isso se dá porque a pt:tangente do milésimo é muito próxima de 1/1000.
