English: Mine shaft, Poldice Valley The shaft safety arrangements here display three lines of defence against accidents to humans and animals alike. A substantial outer stone wall surrounds an inner wire fence topped with barbed wire while, on top of the shaft heap, the mouth of the shaft itself is covered by the conical steel cage of a Clwyd cap. |
