Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Semiclassical dancing style from Kerala called mohiniyattam. Women execute the dance in homage to the Hindu god Vishnu, who is represented by the enchantress Mohini. According to Hindu legend, Vishnu assumed the shape of Mohini to divert the demon Bhasmasura while the gods drank the immortality-granting elixir from the churning heavenly waters, preventing the end of the cosmos. Each Mohini Attam performance revolves around the Mohini Myth.
