Summary[edit]
DescriptionMolineux House - geograph.org.uk - 1229461.jpg |
English: Molineux House After a multi-million pound restoration and extension the Grade 2* listed building built for Benjamin Molineux a local ironmaster is now home to the local archives. The building dates from 1720 with the Ring Road frontage dating from the mid 18th century and it has a Victorian clock tower. It was a hotel from the 1870s and continued in this role until 1979. For the next 25 years it lay derelict with a number of owners, Tarmac Construction, the football club and other developers. It survived demolition and gutting by fire in 2002 and was saved by a deal with the City Council. The parklands at the rear were used for sports and exhibitions and the adjacent 'Molineux' is the ground of Wolverhampton Wanderers. |
