Summary[edit]
DescriptionMonument - geograph.org.uk - 353313.jpg |
English: The monument commemorates the minor poet John Lapraik who lived in the farm of Laigh Dalfram which once stood in this location. Lapraik was an acquaintance of Robert Burns. The memorial cairn lies in a meander of the River Ayr and was unveiled on 17th July 1914 by the Lapraik Burns Club of Muirkirk. In the distance can be seen the overburden from the opencast mining activities along the A70 near Boghead (NS6324). The improved grassland of the floodplain is used for grazing sheep. |
