Description
English: Moroccan women at the wedding of one of the sons of Basha El-Glaoui in 1939 in Marrakech, Morocco. The Moroccan women in the photograph are all wearing Moroccan Caftans and Mansouria which is a two-piece garment; consisting of a richly embroidered Caftan that is worn under a transparent Dfina. Two or three Caftans can be worn under the Dfina. One of the women has tattoos on her face; it is a facial ornament of Amazigh (Berber) origin, used by Moroccan women to beautify the face, hands and body. Each tribe has its own tattoos.
