Summary[edit]

Description

As I forgot the "Burst Mode" on, so let's play a little by simulating a double exposure on PaintShop Pro 2018...

A CAF 8000 Series train arriving at the Lapa station of the CPTM's Line 8 - Diamante.

I've always liked passenger trains, and despite its far from acceptable service, it's remarkable how CPTM* managed to renew most of its rolling stock in so little time. Until 2006 or 07, all the seven CPTM's lines but one or two were populated mostly by trains made from the 1950s to 1970s, and now almost the entire fleet is consisted of modern trains with aircon.

If I remember correctly, CPTM operates a fleet of 190 trains, and almost 110 (with 8 cars per train) of them are from this CAF 7000/7500/8000/8500 family of trains, a huge feat for a train that is in revenue service for less than 10 years.

"*CPTM: Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos (CPTM) (English: São Paulo Metropolitan Trains Company) is a rapid transit company owned by the São Paulo State Department for Metropolitan Transports. It was created in May 28, 1992 from several railroads that already existed in Greater São Paulo, Brazil. Part of the Greater São Paulo rail network, CPTM has 94 stations in seven lines, with a total length of 273.0 kilometres (169.6 mi). The system carries about 2.8 million passengers a day. In June 8th 2018, CPTM set a weekday ridership record with 3,096,035 trips"
