White paper with typed black text

you to know the full story. Judge Beard offered to come to Phila and to talk to Mr. Simon if necessary. It would be practicable to have the services of an architect who was not too far away and then the sculptor, when selected, would work with him. I believe the architect works on a 10% basis. The list of “outstanding southern women” reads like the disgruntled and defeated list to me. I am writing to both papers this week to ask that no mention or use of the name UDC be in the papers when the SDA hold their meeting. I did not have a reply to my letter at all which seemed very rude to say the least. I did not ask for a correction as Judge Beard recommended that we go very slowly as we did not want to antagonize the papers. I did have the notice in the May Magazine. Did you see it? Also letters have gone to all Division Presidents calling to their attention that June 3 has always been a UDC of observant- that it was part of our Bylaws until 1957- when Mrs. Wittichen put Memorial Days in the Standing Rules. I said in the letter that no UDC members should neglect this observance except for illness or death. I know of two Div. presidents who are members and their first duty is to the UDC. I leave on May 23rd for Calif. And will be at the Air Force Academy in Colo. Springs in [sic] June 3rd. Will make a number of visits while west as I will not be out that way next year. I hope that you are feeling much better and hope to hear from you before I leave. With love to you,
