English: Limestone building blocks of the Bavarian dimension stone company Gandl on a small construction site in Berlin, Germany. The quite ‘coarse-crystalline’ limestone belongs to the Muschelkalk series of the German Triassic (exact stratigraphic and geographic position/provenance is unclear, possibly from the Upper Muschelkalk of Kirchheim in Lower Franconia, northern Bavaria, Germany). a) A stack of partly sawn (light faces) and partly split (darker faces) blocks. b) Detail of the area on the split face enclosed by the black box in a). |
