| Description |
The Myasischev design bureau came into existence to build a strategic bomber capable of attacking mainland USA. The M-4 'Molot' was the result. Unfortunately it had sufficient range. The 3M was a revised design which gave the required range and a total of 93 were built. The 3MD variant was a cruise missile carrying aircraft and was given the NATO codename 'Bison-C'. Only nine were built before the Myasischev OKB was dissolved. This example was built in 1960 and retired in 1986 after 4,904 flying hours. c/n 0301804. Russian Air Force Museum.
