This large medal was given by the city of Nürnberg to the Royalties attending the ceremony of the unveiling of the monument in honour of Kaiser Wilhelm I on 14 December 1905 in Nuremberg. It is very rare in this size. Wilhelm I, German Emperor, 1871 - 1888 Laureate bust r., around: "WILHELM- I. DEVTSCHER- KAISER."/ The monument: Wilhelm I on horseback r., 2 lines at l.: "1905 NÜRNBERG". At l. above the arms of Nuremberg. LL Ball 28 (1935), No 32579; Erlanger 664. Medallist: W. v. R. (Wilhelm von Ruemann), 1850 Hanover - 1906 Ajaccio, Corsica Condition : EXTREMELY FINE+, a tiny edge nick at 7 o'clock on the reverse. |
