Кравченко ездил в Китай и там на месте собирал богатый материал, давший возможность художнику, под свежим впечатлением рассказов участников похода на Пекин, восстановить всю картину этого исторического события. Наш передовой отряд под командой ген. Василевского, состоявший всего лишь из четырех рот, далеко не полного состава, 2-го и 10-го Вост. Сиб. стр полков, четырех орудий и полутора сотни казаков, ворвался ночью в столицу богдыханов, защищаемую целой армией китайских генералов, и в течение долгих часов выдержал бой с неприятелем, пока на подмогу ему не подошли главные силы под командой ген. This work was published on territory of the Russian Empire (Russian Republic) except for territories of the Grand Duchy of Finland and Congress Poland before 7 November 1917 and wasn't re-published for 30 days following initial publications on the territory of Soviet Russia or any other countries.
