Deutsch: Ein Zug der Linie B am Bahnhof 59th Street–Columbus Circle an der IND Eighth Avenue Line.
Der Wagen ist vom Typ R40.
Bei diesem Fahrzeugtyp aus dem Jahre 1968 kam erstmals eine futuristische Wagenfront aus Glasfaserverstärktem Kunststoff zum Einsatz, die bei der ersten Serie als „Designerstück“ um 10 Grad nach hinten geneigt war. Der entscheidende Nachteil dieser Konstruktion war die große Lücke, die sich beim Übergang zwischen zwei solchen Wagen auftat und nachträglich mittels diverser Stangen und Ketten gegen Unfälle abgesichert werden musste. Nach einigen Todesfällen erhielt sie den Spitznamen „Bermudadreieck“.

This car type from 1968 was the first one which had a futuristic looking front end made of glass-reinforced plastic, which was at first formed to a slant end with a 10 degree slope. Their disadvantage was the huge gap between the cars, so that a lot of hardware had to be added for safety issues. After some fatalities the gap used to be called the “bermuda triangle”.

Ce type des rames ont été livré en 1968. Ils constituent la génération de métro equipée d'une façade en plastique renforcée par des fibres de verre, qui s'inclinait de 10 degrés en arrière à la première série. Le désavantage de ce type était la grande lacune entre les voitures, qu'on appellait le «Triangle des Bermudes» parce qu'il a fait disparaître quelques voyageurs. Comme mesure de sécurité, ce type a été garni des deux côtés d'une clôture massive.
