when Raje (shivaji maharaj) saw the fort when it was completed he was very impressed by the architecture of the fort so he asked the architect 'Hiroji Indulkar' what he wants as a prize for his amazing work at that time Hiroji Indulkar asked with due respect to give permission to carve his name on the last step of the fort (were shivaji maharaj was standing at that particular time). this is that step and the language its written is popularly known as 'moddi lipi'.it saying "always active in the service"
