Summary[edit]

Description Battle between Alexander and Darius, Pompeii, House of the Faun (VI,12,2), esedra. Alexander the Great attacks the chariot of Darius of Persia. Probably a copy (125-120 BC) of a Greek painting by Philoxenos at the end of the 4th C BC (now lost). This is the original mosaic; the one in Pompeii is a reproduction.
