Description
English: Pages from New Notes on the the Red Army; No 2 Uniforms and insignia, a military manual published in August, 1944 during World War II by the War Office, a department of the British Government responsible for the administration of the British Army.
  • Pages 08-09 A2 Senior and Junior officers – Shoulder-straps
(Including all officers from the rank of Colonel to Junior Lieutenant).
Shoulder-straps of senior officers are distinguishable by the two centre stripes which run down the entire length of the shoulder-straps from the top button to the shoulder edge: the shoulder strap of junior officers has one centre stripe. Walking-out dress shoulder-straps are of gold silk braid with the exception of those of the following arms, which are of silver silk braid:-Technical troops, commissariat, medical, veterinary, judicial and administrative. (The four last mentioned are of the narrow type). Emblems showing service arms are worn by all senior and junior officers, except infantry and administrative: Emblems and stars are coloured silver, with the exception of those of the technical troops, commissariat, medical and judicial services, which are coloured gold. The veterinary emblem is coloured silver, and the stars are gold. Field dress shoulder straps have khaki background.
