English: Newtondale The dramatic gorge of Newtondale forms a through valley linking the Goathland area with the Vale of Pickering, and is one of the finest examples of a glacial overflow channel in Britain. The valley was overdeepened by meltwaters spilling over from 'Lake Esk' some 15000 years ago. |
