Summary
[edit]DescriptionNorth American Harvard IV ‘AJ841’ “Wacky Wabbit” (G-BJST) (51540693555).jpg |
c/n CCF4-292 Built as a T-6J by Canadian Car & Foundary in 1952, with the US military serial 51-17110. Served with the Italian Air Force as ‘MM53795’ but was stored by 1975. Sold off in 1981 and one of 4 shipped to the UK by Robs Lamplough. It was registered as G-BJST later in 1981 but was instead rebuilt to statically represent a Mitsubishi Zero for the 1987 movie “Empire of the Sun”. After years in storage, a further restoration later took place at Thruxton where she was rebuilt to stock condition and flew again in false RAF markings with the serial KF729. She has now been repainted to accurately represent Harvard ‘AJ841’ of No.154 squadron, Royal Air Force, based in the Middle East during WW2. She is seen giving pleasure flights at the Shuttleworth Collection’s ‘Flying for Fun’ evening airshow. Old Warden, Bedfordshire, UK 17th July 2021 |
