Summary[edit]

Description
English: Numbering, The Cannon. No. 6599, made according to the other side of the cannon, was made in 1799. The bottom line looks a bit like a familiar surname. I did a quick search on Gascoigne and cannon, and apparently a Charles Gascoigne made cannons in Russia for a couple of decades at the end of the 18th century. The middle line refers to the Aleksandrovsky foundry in Petrozavodsk. The carriage for the gun is not original, although it looks dated. A new oak carriage was installed around 1970. The cannon was captured during the Crimean War.
