Summary[edit]

Description
English: Oakwood Farm, owned by Colonel William S. King, was considered a landmark in the mid 1800's. Known as the leading Shorthorn breeder in the Northwest, King's name is found repeatedly in the 1876 publication of "The American Shorthorn Herd Book, Vol. 15". King, a MN U.S. Rep, also helped establish the Minneapolis Tribune, and was a major stockholder in the Pioneer Press. Colonel King also founded King's Fair, a precursor to the MN State Fair and the Northrup-King Seed Company.
