Bildtext: "Offerhus (kapell) på Hofva kyrkogård i Westergötland, vid slutet av 1600-talet." Ur boken: "Mera prydligt och efter nordisk fornsed klädt med spån, var då ett gammalt förfallet Kapell, som på Peringskölds tid (i slutet af 1600-talet) ännu fanns qvar på Hofva kyrkogård i Westergötland. Rimligtvis har äfven detta kapell varit ett forntida offerhus, eller åtminstone af en från de fyrkantiga offerhusen lånad byggnadsform; likasom vi med skäl torde kunna antaga, att våra s. k. rundkyrkor, af hvilka några ända till vår tid bibehållit sig, så väl i Svea land (Solna, Munsö, Mörkö m. fl), som i Kalmar län och på Bornholm, ursprungligen icke varit annat än offerhus af sten, sednare förvandlade till små kapell eller kyrkor.
