Summary
[edit]DescriptionOld Oak Common Locomotive Depot geograph-2434450-by-Ben-Brooksbank.jpg |
English: An oil-burning 'Castle' 4-6-0 refuelling at Old Oak Common Locomotive Depot. During the abortive scheme for limited substitution of oil for coal instituted shortly after World War Two - and soon abandoned, refuelling facilities were provided at the GWR's Old Oak Common Locomotive Depot. Here one of the five 'Castle' 4-6-0s converted to oil, No. 5039 'Rhuddlan Castle' (built 6/35, oil-burner 1946-49, withdrawn 6/64) is seen there in January 1948. |
