Deutsch: Der Rathskeller in Olten (Schweiz), rückseitige (grabenseitige) Fassade.
Das Gebäude stammt von 1673 und steht am Rande der Altstadt, an Stelle der ehemaligen Ringmauer. Es war ursprünglich der Gaststall der Herberge "zum Löwen", im späteren 19. Jh. zu einem Wohnhaus umgebaut mit Versatzstücken der ehemaligen Fassade des "Löwen". Ein Restaurant ist das Gebäude seit 1896 (zunächst unter dem Namen "Baselbieter"), umgebaut und "historisierend" ausgestattet 1905-6, seit damals "Rathskeller". Das Gebäude heisst auch "Kübel" (dialektal Chöbu, Chübu).[1] Die Fresken auf der Fassade sind von Emil Kniep (1906). Auf der vorderen Fassade "Auszug der Oltner in den Bauernkrieg 1653" (s. File:Olten03.jpg), rückseitig "Der letzte Frohburger" [2] http://www.rathskeller-olten.ch/ Die Wandmalerei zeigt den Grafen Eberhard von Frohburg auf seinem Ross, wie er auf der Aarebrücke vom Blitz erschlagen wird. Inschrift: "Der Hochmuth seinen Meister fand / die Herrenburg vom Boden schwand / Es schuf zu ewigem Bestand / das Volk sein freies Vaterland".[3] Die Frohburger waren bis zu ihrem Erlöschen im späteren 14. Jh. die Herren von Olten. Ein "letzter Frohburger" Eberhard, der von Blitz erschlagen worden wäre ist legendär; der letzte Graf von Frohburg war Johann, gestorben 1366 (den Grafentitel erbte kurzfristig Hermann VI., Abt des Klosters St. Urban, der jedoch im Folgejahr ebenfalls verstarb).[4] |
