Summary[edit]
DescriptionOrange Balsam or Jewelweed (Impatiens capensis) - geograph.org.uk - 950225.jpg |
English: Orange Balsam or Jewelweed, Impatiens capensis, flowering beside the River Thames south of Cholsey, Oxfordshire. Like Himalayan Balsam, Impatiens glandulifera, this riverside plant is a foreign introduction, but from North America. It occurs frequently along the Thames but is not as invasive as Himalayan Balsam. Because the ripe seed pods explode on contact it is also known as 'Touch-me-not'. |
