Description
Nederlands: Sint-Amanduskerk - Henri De Bockplein - Eke - Nazareth - Oost-Vlaanderen - Vlaanderen - België
De oude toren van Eke is een overblijfsel van de eerste kerk, de Sint-Amanduskerk. De bakstenen toren heeft een vierkante romp met een lage vierhoekige met schaliën bedekte spits en met steunberen op de hoeken. De toren dateert voornamelijk van 1771, maar bepaalde delen gaan terug tot de 12de eeuw. Deze middeleeuwse oorsprong werd bevestigd door het terugvinden van bakstenen, die nog met hout gebakken werden. De toren werd als monument geklasseerd op 17 maart 1949 en in 1962 volledig gerestaureerd. In 1996 werd hij opnieuw gerestaureerd en herschilderd. Hij vormt de toegangspoort tot het kerkhof van Eke
