English: Overgrown Tumuli Tumuli hiding underneath dense vegetation can be found on both sides of the forestry road. A tumulus (plural tumuli, from the Latin word for mound or small hill) is a mound of earth and stones that has been raised over a grave. Tumuli, also called barrows, burial mounds or kurgans, can be found in many countries. When composed largely or entirely of stones they are usually referred to as cairns.
