Oxytropis pumilio (Pall.) Ledeb. is a typical representative of the pioneering plants of volcanic habitats

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Studies have shown that pioneering plants that successfully colonize volcanic sediments are stress-tolerants with small sizes, cushion-like growth and close shoots, taproot system, and fairly large (0.05-1 mg) seeds. All these traits help them to establish in conditions of insufficient mineral nutrition and unstable soil.
