Description |
Transcribed from photograph: "Pacific Northwest Traction Co. Trestle crossing the Great Northern Ry at Clayton Bay [Beach], about 1911."; Clayton Beach, Bow, WA 98232 The Pacific Northwest Traction Company line here was an Interurban running from Mount Vernon, Washington to Bellingham, Washington. It began service August 31, 1912. "Bow" is a bit of a stretch for Clayton Bay/Beach. Nowadays, at least, "Bow" refers to a small unincorporated settlement near Edison. This 1925 map shows Clayton Bay roughly 7 miles (11 km) northwest of that, past Blanchard, Washington, basically where Clayton Beach is now in Larrabee State Park. |
