English: Between 1975-1979, Cambodia was under the leadership of the Communist Party of Kampuchea known as the Khmer Rouge whose leaders named Pol Pot, Prime Minister; Nuon Chea, Head of National Assembly; Khieu Samphan, Head of State; Ieng Sary, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Son Sen, Minister of Defence and others. Under their leadership and within 3 years and 8 months, almost three million people lost their lives because of starvation, forced labor, disease, outlaw execution... There were markets, no religious practice, no medical care, ...no school - some former schools were turned into interrogation centers such as Tuol Svay Prey High School was turned into Security Center (S-21) where most educated Cambodians were tortured, interrogated and killed.
