English: Park in hibernation Coventry War Memorial Park 3:15pm on a cold (very cold) Tuesday afternoon in March - it looks deserted but there were walkers, dog walkers, toddler walkers, runners and cyclists - all desperate to keep warm! Oh, and someone in a nice warm tractor mowing the grass on the playing fields. Left to right: the edge of the pavilion which houses a cafe (not open), toilets and park office; the low hedge borders a bowling green; the brick building is the aviary; in the centre the war memorial Cenotaph (architect T F Tickner, who died before it was dedicated in 1927); the blue area is the children's water play feature thingy (not a paddling pool) and only in action during holidays in warm months; the fencing on the right surrounds the tennis courts (hard-court, much better surface than the gravel-with-marbles-and-moss of the 1970's, but less of them).
