Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Top: Home-made phase grating, period = 2mm.

Between two glass plates, two plastic foils with vertical slits (1mm each) are placed in line oil.
Line oil and plastic foild do have about the same index of refraction,
so light gets delayed by about half a wavelength even plastic thickness is 2x20µm or so.

Bottom: Talbot effect using above grating shows a replication of grating structure.
Distance to light source is 1.5m (d*d/\lambda/4), distance to mirror is 0.75m (d*d/\lammbda/8).
Mirror degrates image quality strongly, but allows to display it on same image.

On the right hand side in the background there is a flowerpot :-)
Deutsch: Oben: Eingebau-Phasengitter (alles vom Glaser, Supermarkt, Baumarkt), Periode = 2mm
