Italiano: Philippopolis è la città natale di Filippo l'Arabo, che una volta divenuto imperatore la elevò da piccolo villaggio a centro urbano dotato di impianto urbano con terme, teatro e cinta muraria.

العربية: لوحة الفسيفساء الرومانية «تيثيس وآلهة البحر»، وهي لوحة موجودة في متحف شهبا الذي أنشأ عام 1962، واكتشفت عام 1963 قرب الحمامات الأثرية الكبرى. وتيثيس هي حورية «بوسايدون» إله البحر عند الإغريق. وتتوسط الآلهة اللوحة التي تمثّل البحر للدلالة على معرفتها بعالم البحار. وتتزين أو تزيّن شعرها بأسماك البحر للإشارة إلى خيرات البحار وكائناتها الحية، وعلى جبهتها نجمة البحر تزيّنها لإظهار كنوز البحر وجماله. ويلتف حول عنقها حيوان بحريّ أسطوريّ يسمى «الدراكون»، له رأس كلب ويرمز إلى أعماق البحار لإبراز مخاطرها ومخاوفها. فيما يشاهَد على إطارها تسعة ملائكة صغار ويطلق عليهم اسم «كيوبيد».
