Yellow, piriform fruits of the Physalis family, probably Physalis ixocarpa (Physalic philadelphica) - Mexican variety.

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Yellow, piriform fruits of the Physalis family, probably Physalis ixocarpa (Physalic philadelphica) - Mexican variety. Labeled as "Queen of Malinalco", this designation is therefore just an invented name. Actual name of the variety and origin in Mexico unknown. In comparison with the more famous green varieties of Physalis ixocarpa (Physalis philadelphica), used for green sauce, this yellow "tomate" (miltomate, tomate de cascara) is more sweet and contains far less water, thus less used for sauces.
