Italiano: "Raffinata testimonianza della ritrattistica dedicata alla potente aristocrazia romana alle soglie del XVII secolo, la tela proviene dalle raccolte dei Duchi Cesarini, per i quali fu eseguita. Essa passò dal loro palazzo romano a quello di Genzano nel 1866, data in cui fu stilato un inventario dei beni conservati nel Palazzo dal pittore Tommaso Minardi che attribuì il dipinto alla Scuola di Scipione Pulzone. Recentemente il dipinto era stato attribuito a Scipione Pulzone da Andrea G. De Marchi e da Maria Teresa Cantaro (1). Il primo ad avanzare dubbi sulla paternità di Pulzone è stato Antonio Vannugli, che ha invece suggerito l’attribuzione a Pietro Facchetti (2), oggi confermata e sostenuta da Francesco Solinas e da Laura Bartoni in un saggio in corso di pubblicazione."
