| Description | Built circa 1902, the old Pink J. Plemmons Grocery and Feed Store once housed the post office for the small community of Luck, located in an especially remote corner of Spring Creek Township along a segment of North Carolina State Highway 209 that was not paved until the 1950s. The store closed several decades ago, but has been maintained and still features the old gas pumps from the 1950s, the signage from when the store was operational, and a mushroom-like light over the gas pumps area that would have assisted drivers traveling through the area at night. The building remains a landmark for those traveling on “The Rattler,” the twisting and winding section of Highway 209 between Hot Springs, North Carolina and Lake Junaluska, North Carolina. |
