Description

Illustration issue de l'article "Nouvelle description de l'île de Caprée", M. Depping, Annales des Voyages, de la géographie et de l'histoire, Paris, F. Buisson, 1812, tome 19, p. 145-163.

L'île de Caprée (devenue Capri depuis, comme sa ville principale) tirerait son nom de la présence de chèvres qu'on y trouvait autrefois. Au-delà de l'anecdote, c'est pour son histoire et ses ruines antiques que l'île fait l'objet d'une description. Ses habitants vivent de la chasse et de la pêche ainsi que du commerce de vin et d'huile.

Ouvrage appartenant à la Bibliothèque historique du ministère de l'Agriculture, déposée à la MRSH Caen.
